Deciding What To Include In Your Website
April 22nd, 2009 by Richard
Before you approach a web designer or you start to design your own website, you need to sit down and have a serious and in-depth brainstorm. Take the time and sit still and think about what you are trying to achieve with your website. What are your goals? Who are your target market and what are you trying to sell them? Do you need an e-commerce website or can customers contact you through the site to buy? Without a firm idea in your head about what functionality and look your website needs, you will probably find the design and website build to be a stressful and long process.
Things to consider
Remember your website will be competing with an incredible number of other websites with the same topic, services and products as yours. The goal is to have people find your specific website amongst all those others out there when they do a search. You need to stand out!
Only you really know the ins and outs of your business. You need to find the balance between what you functions you want your website to perform and what your web design budget is. The more complicated the functionality, the more expensive it will be, but if a website is designed well from the outset, you will probably save money down the line. You also need to know what, if any, kind of extra content you want to have as part of your site e.g. multimedia, videos, music etc Having clear objectives and ideas is essential if you want your website design to work for you.
