User Unfriendly Web Design Can Harm Your Business

April 17th, 2009 by

There are literally millions and millions of websites on the Internet. Your business therefore will be competing with many others who offer the same services and products that you do. Can you really afford to alienate potential clients or make your website unfriendly to your visitors? The answer is a resounding no! No business can afford this. A professional web design company can help to ensure that your site appeals to users and functions exactly as it should.

You have to get into your targeted audience’s heads and have your website designed optimally to appeal to those visitors. There are often overlooked things about your website that you think is okay, but it can give the wrong impression to your visitors and it is far more difficult to undo the damage afterwards.

View your website as an outsider

Those little page counters that many people still put on their websites are old hat, look bad and really should be dropped. Nobody believes them anyway as they are too easy to manipulate. And you definitely do not want people to know if your number of web visitors has been low, do you? One of the quickest ways to make your site visitors leave is if they are confronted with an annoying under construction sign.

They will immediately think you are too cheap to pay for good web design. Think like your web traffic, most people are rushed and want information fast. Give them all the information they need in logical, plain text. They want lots and lots of easily readable text, not cute graphics to “try” to explain what they want to know. Your website is your showcase; don’t make your visitors leave due to poor design.
