Higher click through rates tend to go hand-in-hand with higher quality scores on PPC accounts. If you are looking for ways to drive your quality score higher, there are some simple steps you can take:

Keep your PPC Account

Some people may advise ditching an account if it’s not performing well but unfortunately this is only an option if the quality score is at rock bottom. If you stop an account you not only lose the poor history but also the good history, which can take years to recoup.

Delete poor performing ads and keywords

Delete any poor performing ads or keywords as they will adversely affect your quality score. This allows for a tidier account with only those keywords that perform well producing high click through rates.

Monitor keyword selection

The success of your keywords is intrinsically linked to the quality score. If your keywords do not relate to your ads well, and then the ads don’t relate well to the landing pages you will get a low quality score. There must be keywords on the landing pages so double check.

Improve the loading time of landing pages

As a quality score also relates to the user experience, if the loading time is slow you will get a bad score. Make sure landing pages can load quickly no matter what the platform.

If you are getting a quality score of 7 or below then follow the above tips to see improvements. They won’t happen overnight but over time you will see some great changes.

At Click Consult we are experts in PPC account management and at creating an effective web marketing campaign.

How you ever considered what your Quality Score looks like for your PPC account in general and whether it has affected the account throughout the years?

Everything you do now will affect the future score and gaining a good Quality Score will take time. For some it may take just a week but for others it can take much longer. By optimising the PPC account on an ongoing basis you will start to see the benefits of a great Quality Score. In time, costs should drop and the ad will have better placements.

What many people do not realise is that deleted or paused ads will still have an effect on the Quality Score. Both paused or deleted ads and keywords still have an effect and their historical performance can continue to affect the account history long after they are deleted. However it is still recommended to delete those that do not perform well to increase the quality score. This prevents them affecting the quality score and your account history in the future. Over time as other ads gain positive performance history the effect of the deleted keywords and ads will start to diminish and the affect on the quality score will lessen.

It is recommended to delete poor performers rather than to pause them, as they could be resumed by accident. In Adwords for example it is possible to start deleted keywords and ads so beware of that possibility.

If you want to increase the click through rate the keep deleting poor performers and adding new ads.

At Click Consult we can help you manage all your pay per click accounts.

There are many ways to increase conversions and sales when running pay per click campaigns, but by making some simple changes to the PPC landing pages you will see some dramatic performance improvements.

Follow these guidelines to instantly make your PPC account work harder for you:

Fast Loading

Your Quality Score will be negatively affected by longer loading times. If it is taking longer than ten seconds to load the PPC landing pages then it is far too long. Aim for less than five seconds. Avoid large flash files, copious amounts of images and animated graphics. If a user has to wait for animation to load before they get a chance to read about your services they are less likely to stick around.

Dynamic Headlines

Use dynamic headlines on PPC landing pages. These are created when a URL is tracked that inserts a keyword into a headline. It is a similar principle to inserting dynamic keywords into pay per click ads. If the headline is more specific to what the user has typed in a search they are more likely to read on.

Include PPC keywords

Use your PPC keywords in the PPC landing page copy. This will increase the Quality Score and attract users to the content of the page.

Short Contact Forms

Long contact forms will drive users away. Make sure the submit button is above the fold where it can easily be seen.

The internet has opened up a whole new world to society. In essence it has created a completely different society of its own. With the birth of a new society comes new innovations in every day matters. One of the ways in which the internet has revolutionised the world is with marketing. Online marketing is a completely different ball game to traditional marketing.

The same mistakes may apply to a certain extent, but with new territory comes new dangers. Internet marketing is a vast and all encompassing subject. There are many different types of internet marketing to choose from – you are literally spoilt for choice. The key to your online success is to choose the right one.

Is PPC for you?

PPC may not be your ideal marketing method, but there are a few attractive factors about it that you may want to give a try. Most businesses, if not all, can benefit in some way from PPC advertising campaigns. PPC is a form of affiliate marketing with other websites. Basically you will be placing your ad on the web page of another site.

The advantage of this is that you hit your target market with a huge percentage of accuracy. With PPC, if it is done right, you will only expose your PPC advertising to your chosen target market. This improves your chances of making profits and turning those who see your ads into paying customers.

This target market accuracy is a huge benefit that any company can do with to improve their profit margin. The Google Quality Score is a valuable tool to be used to improve your accuracy in attracting your target market.

You may think that by managing your pay per click campaign alone you are saving money on management fees. However, it may be time to think again as hiring an agency can increase your PPC campaign’s performance and save your budget in the long term.

If you’re new to working with a PPC agency you may find the prospect daunting, and feel unsure of what you should be asking and how to identify whether their quotation is inline with their service offering. Here are some basic questions to ask any potential PPC agencies:

1. How is the Google Quality Score Managed?

This is based on ad text, keywords and landing page relevance. They should be aiming to provide you with smaller, targeted ad groups requiring fewer keywords. This then enables the agency to write specific ad text which will in turn increase your click-through rates. Keywords should be contained in the landing pages to ensure relevancy and ultimately increase conversions to sale.

2. What will the agency do first when the account is taken over?

The best response would be to carry out an account restructure or fix incorrect settings.

3. What reporting do they offer?

As a standard, you should be getting reports to outline completed work and also provide you with a concise analysis of the account.

4. Will the agency provide access to Adwords and Google Analytics?

A good agency will set up a Google Analytics account on your behalf and provide access to Adwords. However this should only be to view. Leave changes to the agency.
