It is essential that all modern companies have an online presence in order to be successful in this increasingly competitive business world. Social media offers a company the power to reach a larger demographic and build a more personal relationship with their customers, so it’s no surprise that most business have utilised this
innovative platform. However, a company should not just set up a profile on a network such as Facebook and hope for the best. A social media campaign needs to be thought through carefully, which is why they should develop a good strategy before diving in head first. Without a social media strategy, you could find that your
competitors succeed where you fail.
Social media is changing all the time, with new websites and applications constantly emerging.
However, if you follow these few key points then you really can’t go wrong: - Inform. You should be a source of information that the web users couldn’t find elsewhere. Tell them something they want to know, but do it in a friendly manner. A pushy, longwinded or formal approach will ultimately
force them to visit one of your competitors. - Entertain. Amusing your audience is the first step to ensuring they follow you or join your group. By offering them an amusing joke or a funny approach then you may find that they choose you over your industry rivals. -
Interact. Your customers matter so make them feel like they do. Answer their questions, allow them to take a poll about your services, provide them with competitions or ask them a question. Show them that your company is interested in their opinion. - Advertise. Take all
the information above on board and include it in your advertising. Whether you are advertising a new product or service, keep them up-to-date with the latest company changes or events but keep it light and carefree. As stated earlier, don’t be too pushy. Tell them what they need to know and how they can find it. However, don’t
expect too much too soon. Social media campaigns can take time as gaining followers is an ongoing process and one that you can’t let slip. Just because you have gained 10,000 followers or fans doesn’t mean that the hard work should stop there. Remember, people can remove you as quick as they joined you.
