SEO Maintenance

April 20th, 2010 by

Imagine the situation – you have just finished setting up SEO for your site and everything is running well.  However as you had to leave other elements of the business to run themselves whilst the search engine optimisation process was underway, the site is left to tick along for a few weeks whilst you focus on everything else.  Over time you vaguely remember that the SEO company you work with advised you should post regular content so you add some fresh articles.  You also add some links to a few associates as they have agreed to link to you.  After just a couple of months the site has deteriorated into a shambles.

Putting together an ongoing maintenance routine for your site is of paramount importance to encourage a healthy website.  Most companies will have a schedule in place before they start with SEO which may cover backing up files and checking code on a regular basis.  SEO checks can then be slotted into the regular routine.  You don’t have to keep checking each day or every week but you do need to make regular checks.

The type of routine you set up will depend on how your site has been optimised.  It will usually cover checking keywords, analysing statistics and checking on the competitors.  It should also incorporate posting regular content which will attract search engine spiders to the site.  Your search marketing tactics may change over time so include trend analysis also.

At Click Consult we can help with all elements of SEO.
