It should not be about SEO versus PPC

October 8th, 2009 by

The debate between whether organic SEO is best and whether PPC works better has been raging for many years. The believers in organic SEO tell you that PPC is costing too much money. The PPC enthusiasts tell you that it does not matter that it costs money, it works fast and shows results. In reality there should not be a competition between organic SEO and PPC.

Both these campaigns should be seen as tools. They work differently, they have different time frames and each has its own place in creating web success. Organic SEO is a valuable tool for any business.

It is the optimisation of each and every web page within a website. It is about using target specific keywords to attract the search engine crawlers. Optimisation is much more than just keywords and placing them strategically on each web page.

Tools are to be used

The purpose of organic SEO is to find exact keywords that will drive your target traffic to your website. Keyword research is done to find the specific keywords searchers use to look for products and services that your type of business offers. This involves demographics as well as geographic keywords. This task can be done through organic SEO and through a PPC campaign.

There are even other avenues that can be used to find these keywords. A website owner can also combine organic SEO and PPC to achieve the best volume of targeted traffic.

What must be understood is it’s not about one or the other, and that organic SEO can be left out if a PPC campaign is embarked upon. These two are tools and each have their benefits and should never be in competition with each other.
