Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

Why You Should Diversify Your SEO

The key to profitability in most things is diversification. Investment, marketing, and business are just some of the areas where it can pay to diversify your portfolio, products, or services and SEO is a firm addition to this list. A lot of time and effort is spent optimising a website to drive search engine traffic but all too many websites and web pages pay too much of their SEO attention to a small number of keywords and only concentrate on their ranking in Google.

Google is the primary area of SEO concentration because it holds such a huge market share in terms of search volume. The vast majority of all searches conducted online are done through the Google search engine but that doesn't mean that other search engines, especially Yahoo, Ask, and MSN can't generate a reasonable level of traffic and by optimising pages for these other search engines you will still have a source of traffic if something should happen that causes you to drop off the Google results.

The keywords that a web page is optimised for are important. Targeted keywords that have little competition but attract a good number of searches are the most desirable but, again, many websites tend to concentrate all of their SEO efforts on trying to hit the top spots for just one or two keywords. By building a portfolio of good, positive keywords, can greatly improve traffic levels, increase sales, and ultimately generate the best possible return on your SEO investment.
