Pay Per Click - My Crazy World
In my blog this week I thought I'd give you an insight into the world of a pay per click manager and the trials and tribulations that we go through on a daily basis.
As an account manager I work with a number of varied clients looking after their paid search campaigns, these differ greatly, from those spending £500 to £15,000 a month dealing with a wide range of issues. Of course the main area of my job entails bringing qualified traffic to a client’s website with the aim of increasing leads and sales; however, being an account manager is so much more. Offering website advice including improvement of page layout and navigation, insights into new areas of marketing such as affiliate, email and search engine optimisation.
For me, what makes this industry so interesting is that it is changing every day. Pay per click is still a young market, I would estimate that around only 30% of UK businesses are currently employing pay per click as a form of marketing and would argue that not many more than this number even know what it is and how it works.
I have been an account manager at Click Consult since April 2007, working within the area since its inception in 2003. Everyday I have learnt something new in the industry and believe this will be the case for many years to come. The possibilities are there for all to see, not only in the new format of advertising being offered across the 3 main engines but also in the untapped market of companies who are unaware or even undecided about the benefits of pay per click.
