Online - Means Bias?
It just has occurred to me that a use of Pay per Click marketing and especially natural listings will lead to a bombardment of bias opinions of some left wing media and university persons who are using well established natural or well subsidised PPC listings to push their views. This is a denial of democracy and a freedom of speech in large!!!
When you or I have something to say and we have massive institutions behind us with highly developed media and financial resources, the barriers of reaching the outside world are minimal as you will have guaranteed top positions on the first page for both – natural and PPC listings. But you have to be PC, otherwise the institution won’t risk its reputation or even worth – strategic vision- to support you & your opinion, as “upsetting” a small number of individuals, even if they are wrong, is not allowed. So facts can be withheld and beliefs of “others” suppressed…
The only positive outcome in this situation is that those who have something to say still can use various blogs and BBC and newspapers websites to comment on those who” fit” the institutional standards. Many comments though still can be rejected or altered, but there is a possibility out there of tracing a healthy discussion.
History can be manipulated and opinions polarised, but in media, which supposed to be objective and factual it shouldn’t be an issue.
Internet is a magnificent tool and a use of dirty tactics and lies to increase revenues and take sides isn’t going to work - many just won’t believe or it can spark a valence against those who are blamed.
…and this can mean only one thing- at the days on open communication we still should learn to take moral responsibility for our actions or, as ancients put it, SILENCE IS GOLD.
