Consider Buyer Familiarity For PPC

The content of your ad is obviously one of the most important factors in the creation of an effective PPC campaign. A well written PPC ad can drive masses of traffic and generate an excellent return on your advertising investment but there are many factors to consider within the ad itself, as well as within the advertising campaign as a whole.
How familiar users are with the product you are promoting is important. If you are in a competitive market attempting to sell a product that already has a high familiarity then it is likely that you will need to promote the product on the basis of price or value added benefits that you offer. For example, if you offer free shipping then this could be your Unique Selling Proposition (USP).
For products that are new or have less coverage, the concentration of your advertising is more likely to be placed on the benefit and how it resolves a particular problem or answers a specific question. Choosing the right approach to your PPC ad can attract a huge difference in the effectiveness of that campaign.
Each PPC ad will be different, and familiarity is likely to be determined at least in part by the particular keyword you bid on. Potential customers that search for a product by name will be familiar with that product while less specific keywords may mean less familiarity and a very different approach to the writing of your ad. Treat each campaign differently to get the best possible results.
