3 reasons you should have Mobile Advertising
January 17th, 2008 by Geoff
Many people (myself included) are touting this year as the one for Mobile advertisings. The media corps have long since been battling to get to the front of the pack. Yahoo are expected to announce an the opening of their mobile platform to programmers and publishers to make it more useful. Many of the big publishers already have mobile sites live. But why is this area so fascinating?
I’m going to lay out 3 reasons why the UK mobile advertisings has the potential to become a £187m business by 2010!
1. Of the 60 million people in the UK, 48 million have mobile phones.
With the fact that mobile phones are rarely switched off and even less likely to leave the owners side, that is an amazing reach for any market.
2. In the second half of 2007 inventory page views reached 1bn.
This is growing at 9% per month and is set to reach 5bn by the end of 2008.
3. 8% of UK mobile users have used their mobile phone to buy a product.
At such an early stage in the growth this is a very healthy proportion and will only grow further. Vodafone will soon be launching the m-pay system making it easier and safer to use your mobile to buy, boosting consumer confidence.
2008 really will be a big year for mobile advertising, so every business should be a part of it as soon as possible.
