Sign Up for MSN Analytics Now!
November 12th, 2007 by Nick
Last week, MSN released their version of Web Analytics to be used with adCenter advertisers. Is this going to be a market leader, or just another duplication of an already established Google product?
I think the latter: Why would you want to set up another Analytics package that does the same as Google? Are there any added beneficial features which Google haven’t already thought of? Is it worth spending the time getting to grips with a new platform?
All of these are yet to be seen, but I don’t see any benefit to Yahoo’s analytics over Google’s so what benefit will there be from MSN?
If you already have an AdCenter account then you can sign up for the beta programme for AdCenter’s new Analytics package at the following location:

Bit of trivia: Project Gatineau is the code name for the launch of MSN Web Analytics. It is named after the town in Canada from where Deep Metrix were based before being bought by MSN.
Is it worth us using it for clients? Feedback please….

I would suspect segmenting traffic by demographic data would be one compelling reason. The ability to understand visitor behavior by age and gender from referring source to conversion makes a pretty good case. I suspect even large web sites with powerful analytics solutions already in place may have some interest in Gatineau as an additional source of business intelligence.
