Confused by PTI Europe Bank Charges?

Posted in Pay Per Click (PPC) by Mike on 28th of March, 2008

A few of my clients this week have contacted me with concerns over charges on their bank statements/credit card from a source known as PTI Europe. Further investigation on their behalf has led to the discovery that Adwords Charges were showing up under PTI Europe

Google have indicated that it is actually due to technical issues that some of our recent AdWords charges will appear as from PTI Europe on statements. They stressed that these charges are legitimate Google AdWords charges. Google also suggested that if in doubt, compare the amount from your Billing Summary page with the amount you were charged.

The strange part of the whole affair is that Google didn’t contact any clients or send out any warning that these changes were going to be made. Google out sources all of their billing to a third party and the first person I spoke with at Google had no idea what PTI Europe even was. What they have failed to understand is companies needing to justify Adwords spending on their books and payments to unknown parties just won’t wash.

What confuses things even further is that Yahoo charges also seem to be appearing on bank charges under PTI Europe. Following research in various forums across the internet I have found people who have identified various PTI Europe charges to be from different sources ranging from Boots to Amazon.

The other mystery is that when you search for PTI Europe on Google, the very company who use they services, you don’t seem to be able to find out who they are and what they do?
