Using Images In Online Press Releases
September 19th, 2008 by Matt
Gone are the days when press releases were long passages of text with limited contact details provided for interested readers. Sites like Google News, one of the most popular news distribution sites on the Internet, enable marketers and website owners the opportunity to include an image in their release. Many press release sites allow either the use of an image related to the release or the addition of a website or business logo.
Logos and banners are obviously beneficial for sites looking to improve their branding efforts. A well designed, effective logo should be memorable and instantly recognisable. By including this logo in your press release you not only improve branding efforts but you provide continuity to readers that click through to the page of your site.
Relevant images make any content page more appealing and an online press release is essentially a form of content. Sites that include press releases usually list them according to topic or date and those that include a good picture at the side of their listing will usually prove to be the most popular with readers.
Not all services allow the addition of images to your press release, but if the option exists then you should try to take advantage as far as possible. Add a logo file, if one is allowed, to help with branding and continuity for readers. If a news release service enables you to add a contextually relevant image then add one and consider branding it with a small logo or watermark to further enhance the effectiveness of your press release distribution.
