High quality journalistic content that is topical, timely, and newsworthy will inevitably provide some targeted traffic and can also help to generate long term links for your website. These links can in turn help boost the traffic you receive from search engine results.

As well as writing powerful online press releases you will also need to find the repositories that not only accept them but will get your release the greatest possible exposure. There are many websites that accept press release submissions including specific news wire type websites dedicated to the publishing of press releases and industry based sites that will publish on a particular topic.

Sites like Google News and Yahoo News attract a mass of traffic, as you would imagine from sites of their stature. There are essentially two ways of having your press release included. Either ask the sites to consider your own press release directory as a source of news or find a website that has already been through this process.

The major news services have some fairly rigorous stipulations including the provision of regular content that is written to a journalistic standard.
