Press Release Glossary Terms: Surf Through Traffic

Posted in Online Press Release (PR) by Click Consult on 29th of October, 2008

Surf through traffic is a term that is used in many different areas of online marketing with particular relevance in link building techniques and is therefore important when considering online press release distribution, which is a viable form of building SEO links for a website. Surf through traffic is the direct traffic levels that are generated by any online link; the visitors that click the link where it is published. This is in contrast to the use of links to help build SEO traffic and generate visitors from search engine result pages.

Surf through traffic is a highly desirable trait for any link and it can make even the least SEO beneficial links a viable source of traffic. Online press releases can be used to build SEO links because they allow for the inclusion of a text link in the final paragraph of the piece. However, a lot of press release distribution is geared towards the fact that these links also generate their own traffic not only from the directories where they are submitted but from other websites that publish the press releases.

Finding sources of surf through traffic isn't always easy. Even links that would be considered highly beneficial in SEO terms may not generate their own traffic levels. Online press releases, when written well and submitted properly, however, do provide one such source of qualified and targeted surf through traffic. Press release distribution is also considered beneficial because it increases the general exposure of your website and your business to surfers.
