Online press releases offer a unique method of online marketing. They can generate a lot of buzz over new or improved products as well as helping to build links to a website. As with traditional media forms of press releases they can also build brand awareness for a specific product or service or for an entire organisation. Press releases should only contain genuine newsworthy items but this can include relevant and topical pieces of general interest.

Miss the boat and the piece fails to be newsworthy any longer so writing, submitting, and distributing any press release needs to be completed as quickly as possible once you have an idea for a piece.

You could consider some kind of bonus or promotional offer that is released in line with your press release giving you even greater publicity and hopefully improving early conversion rates.

Always ensure that your landing page is optimised to benefit from the influx of visitors that a good press release will generate. The page needs to be relevant to the topic of the PR and it should be completed and ready to be viewed as soon as the release is sent to distribution services. Timely press releases really can generate very good levels of interest in your product or service but they need to be done well and timed appropriately.
