Submitting Press Releases To Get Results
May 7th, 2009 by Susie
When you write an online press release you know that it will be a great way of getting publicity and advertising for your organisation. Which is always welcome when running a business. All the other daily, weekly, monthly and annual expenses are already draining your budget so press releases are a highly cost effective way to raise your company profile online and get your news out there.
The publicity, however, takes some work on your part to earn. You have to earn your publicity on a media centre or in local and national publications. You are competing for publication space with a horde of other companies who also want their press release to help in getting their name out there.
So how can you increase your chances of getting good press release results?
Success is as success does
Everyone involved knows exactly why you want to put a press release out there. They all know, just as well as you do, that your press release is a marketing technique. So making outrageous claims and blowing your own trumpet is a sure way to get ignored because it screams that you are trying to sell yourself. Salespeak is a BIG no no in press releases because they need to be written objectively and be formal in tone.
If you are trying to announce a product launch you need to make sure it is something people will want to know about because hundreds of other companies also launch new products every day. One thing you really should not do is add annoying exclamation marks, they look like something out of spam mail and people are put off from reading any further. Don’t shoot yourself in the foot by coming across as an amateur. A professional internet marketing agency can look after your online press releases, from their creation to their distribution and reporting the results.
