Press Release Timing

There are many challenges in creating and distributing press releases online, and one of the most common questions is when the best time to send a press release is. There's certainly no denying that a well timed press release can reap excellent rewards in the driving of targeted traffic to a website and generally in the building of qualified leads for a business. Poorly timed online press release distribution may still get you a link but it won't get you much business as a result.
The most obvious answer, although it does sound we're sitting on the fence, is that the best time is when you have something newsworthy to say. Online press releases need to offer genuine news to the readers and to your target market. If you're aiming to send a press release regarding a new product or a new service then the distribution should be timed to coincide with that event. Alternatively, if you're writing a press release about something current and topical then time is a major issue and you need to submit it as soon as possible.
As the saying goes, yesterday's news is old news and this is as true with online press releases as it is with any other form of media or news. A topical press release needs to be distributed during the outbreak of the news, if not sooner, although you obviously have a little more leeway when sending a press release about an event within your own company or on your own website.
