How to use online press releases to generate Word of Mouth

Online press releases are about more than getting your brand noticed by online media professionals. If handled correctly, they can be used to get you and your company on the radar of bloggers, social networks and beyond.

So how do you get your online press release picked up by the blogoratti?

Make it topical
Know what issues are currently hot in the blogosphere and write an online press release that ties you, your company or your products and services into the story. If people are already chattering about the big issue of the day, and your brand links with that, it’s more likely they will start chattering about you.

Make it relevant
In contrast to the above point, don’t spin your story just for the sake of it. The news story has to be relevant to your company and your product or else people will see straight through your scheme. Although a good press release writer will know how to make any story relevant.

Little and often
Old-fashioned marketing was about making one big noise and hoping the world would hear. WOM marketing is about making lots of little noises all over the place. So make sure you send out frequent press releases. Any time you have anything remotely news worthy to say, get a press release out.

Take a stand
If in your press release you take a stand for or against something, it is giving your company a voice – an opinion. And nothing gets more attention than strong opinions. Whether people agree with you or not, they will be talking about you. A great way to get automatic authority with press releases is to use a professional internet marketing company to write and distribute them for you.
