Online Press Release (PR)

Using Press Releases To Assist Search Engine Optimisation

Online press release directories and wires enable submitters to include a link or two links within the content, typically in the final paragraph. As such, as well as generating their own traffic directly from those links, press release submission can be used to generate links and help improve their search engine ranking. While they aren't designed specifically for this purpose, by using the most appropriate sites it's also possible to have a site featured in major news sites.

Many PR directories have large link portfolios of their own and this means that they provide valuable incentive to any publisher. Journalists, news site owners, and various media publishers use press releases to help flesh out the content on their own pages and also use a press release and expand upon the idea to generate extensive pieces.

Press releases should always be relevant and newsworthy and are not used for direct marketing or advertising. However, by linking a current news topic to an equally newsworthy topic for your own site a press release can be published on a large variety of different sites.

By writing and submitting powerful press releases a website can benefit with targeted traffic directly through the release and by building links to a page. Inbound links are used by search engines to judge the value and topic of a page; the more relevant and powerful links that page receives, the better it will perform within the search engine result pages.
