Want to Work for Google?

Then 2011 is the time to do it! Though Eric Schmidt is leaving the company, he is doing so on a high, underlined by his announcement that Google is going to expand aggressively across Europe and create over 1,000 jobs.

This will also be actioned around the Middle East and African regions, as Google lays down a solid marker of where it sees its growth over the next few years. Interesting, especially as the company has recently been at loggerheads with nations such as Spain and Germany!

The news comes on the heels of Google’s announcement that the fourth quarter of 2010 saw healthy profits - $2.54 billion to be exact. Eric Schmidt highlighted that some of that profit would be pumped into different areas of Google’s worldwide operations. "We looked at this year and in particular our prospects for growth in Europe, and our businesses globally are doing well, both our core business as well as our adjacent businesses, our 'hockey stick' businesses as we call them. It's all very, very good. We are going to invest in Europe."

Is this a sign that local SEO when website marketing is going to be more refined on a global scale as time moves on? Is Google investing in Europe so that it has a closer base of operations to work from when it comes to optimising across other areas of the planet? Though Google has been global in a product sense for years, this move will see it become a true global powerhouse if carried out properly.

The closer you are to home, the better you can keep your house in order. If Google are using this philosophy to improve its regional SEO, pay per click management services and more across Europe then its users are in for a real treat!
