Words can make or break your internet marketing efforts
Words can be long, short, difficult to pronounce, funny, life affirming or sad and many more things besides. Words can also make your customers buy your products or make them rush away from your website, never to return. Words are the most incredible weapons on the planet. Use them right and you have a brilliant internet marketing tool; use them poorly and all your efforts will struggle.
To be a successful online marketer you have to use words to reach out to your target audience. You must hold their attention and you must build rapport, and above all you must provide something of value to them.
The most important part of every form of sales message is your words. It does not matter if it is through your copy on your website, through graphics or video or banner ads; it is all about the words you use.
Do you know who you are talking to?
People are diverse; they talk differently, the respond differently and how you talk to each of them leaves an indelible impact. So think about exactly who you are talking to when you promote your website, your business and your products – your target market. Here we go back to that well-known word; demographics. Every word you write in your online marketing campaign should connect with the person reading it.
To do this you need to know how your target audience speak; what slang they use, what is in and what is out in their group. The education level of your target market is another important factor.
You need to speak the language that your target market speaks every day and not speak over their heads or speak to them with words they find patronising. The effort in doing this is worth the success it brings your business and the return on investment.
