Internet Marketing – Walking You Through Customer Engagement

January 6th, 2009 by

Internet marketing is one of the most sought after forms of marketing because it allows the advertisers to compete with larger corporations, target their niche market effectively and allow exposure to all parts of the world provided that the area has Internet connection.

Despite its affectivity, there are always two sides to a coin and hence Internet marketing too comes with its downsides. One of the downsides is the lack of customer interaction. Since the customer is always facing a computer screen whilst reading your adverts, they are unable to see your body language nor speak to you.

These are important factors in determining efficiency, building consumer confidence and loyalty. Thus, Internet marketing makes advertising very impersonal and inconvenient for the buyer.

Online customer engagement

One of the best ways to engage with your customers through the Internet is with the use of videos. However, downloading online videos could take long thus you may need to attach an event to it such as contests.

Otherwise, what advertisers may do is attach some of their video adverts to a popular video clip to ensure people will watch it. Similarly viral videos can be distributed. These are entertaining videos that people share amongst each other (such as on youtube). Another way is through business blogs.

Apart from filling these up with boring product information, you should also create content that is absorbing and will encourage the readers to leave messages. For newsletter marketing, you address the emails to each client specifically and can encourage feedback with the use of contests.
