Cleaning up the dirty word: SEO
July 2nd, 2009 by Nick
It is not difficult to understand why many people see SEO (search engine optimisation) as a dirty word. Firstly, the explanations, definitions and such are all littered with industry related jargon. This makes it very difficult for people, the ones who are not SEOs, to understand SEO. Secondly, people tend to think that success is something that naturally happens if you follow a search engine optimisation formula, but that isn't necessarily the case.
Maybe these people think that success is strewn over you like fairy dust by the fairy godmother of prosperity, who knows? Most people think that those who do something to propel themselves into success do so in an underhanded and conniving way.
So they assume that SEO is underhanded and conniving, thus it becomes a dirty word. This is a misconception if ever there was one. A good internet marketing company can run an effective and ethical SEO campaign for you.
Clearing the air
People need to rethink their viewpoint on SEO. Really, SEO is there to help you. The modern business world is cut throat and companies will do anything to stay at the top.
Now, the internet has revolutionised things even more. You are competing with millions, if not billions, of other websites and everyone wants to be seen, wants to be noticed and need traffic. So you need to do all that you can, legally and fairly, to get the attention of the cyber public.
SEO, done well and not black hat SEO, is nothing more than a good tool to help you get where you deserve to be. Success comes from hard, honest work and SEO is the light that shows your potential clients where you are.
