The role of email in your business

Email is often overlooked when it comes to promoting a business and its products or services, but it is an easy and cheap method of supplying existing and new customers with information.
An effective email marketing campaign should be used in conjunction with other sales methods but email is a far more attractive proposition. There are rules to follow regarding the sending of emails and you have to have the permission of a customer before you send emails. The best way to obtain permission is to offer information such as a newsletter to the customer. In return, the customer will give you their name and email address. It is a good idea to send a welcome email asking for their permission once again so that you are sure they wish to receive information from you.
Because the subscriber has confirmed they want your information you can be sure that they are going to be interested in your product or service and will eventually purchase something from you. Just to be sure that your emails are welcome, you should give the option to unsubscribe from an email list. It may seem strange giving the option to opt out but if someone keeps receiving emails that they don't want they will become annoyed and will never be likely to purchase from you.
