Little known email marketing secrets

August 21st, 2009 by

In order to conduct a successful email marketing campaign you should first build your list.  Subscribers who opt-in are valuable assets and are what is needed to grow your business.  If you have loyal subscribers it means you have readership and if you have readership you can increase your traffic and increase your sales.

Once you have your list the next step is to create your campaign and from there build your relationships.  When you develop your campaign try to avoid making every email you send out into an obvious pitch for sales.  Offer interesting, well written content or advice and every now and again offer incentives and free goods or promotions. This is a great help in creating strong loyal relationships with your subscribers.

Little known secrets

•    Avoid words in your subject line that will result in your emails getting sent to the junk mail box.  There are words that will instantly trigger spam filters, so try to find out what they are.
•    Don’t hard sell, instead place call to action statements to that you can entice subscribers to visit your website for more information.
•    Keep your emails personal by placing the name of your subscriber in your emails.  This will help build your relationships.
•    Format your content using large chunks of text broken down into paragraphs for easier reading.
•    Focus on your readers, don’t concentrate solely on you or your company.
•    Try to create a sense of urgency in your emails without being pushy.
•    Remember that the best subject lines are the ones that incite curiosity.
