Effective Use Of Email Marketing

December 16th, 2009 by

Email marketing is an effective tool if used correctly. As you build your list of subscribers to your newsletter, decide what you are going to be selling and who you want to sell to. Tailor your newsletter to the kind of people who will be interested in your product.

Once you start building your list, think about the content of your emails. Concentrate on making the subject line eye catching or people won't even bother to open your message. Once you have the attention of the reader think about what you are going to offer. A constant stream of emails selling products will just annoy your subscribers and may even cause them to unsubscribe from your list.

Before selling to your subscribers, think about offering them some free information that they will find useful – this will also help you to get to know all about them. This serves to build a trusting relationship with your prospective customer, a  person will very rarely buy from a stranger. Think carefully about the message you are sending to your list of subscribers and how it will affect them.

Having a double opt-in system is also an effective use of email marketing. Asking a person to opt in twice may seem as though you are discouraging them from joining your list, but a person who completes the double opt in process is actually confirming that they are really interested in what you  are offering.
