Spam Is The Weed Of Email Marketing

April 7th, 2009 by

It was not so long ago that people had the tool of direct mail to use as part of their marketing strategies. This meant and still means that people often receive unsolicited mail through their door.

With email marketing people have an option of opting in or out of it. So in that sense having the control to subscribe to the email marketing campaign that you want has made people feel more in control.

However with this ease of reach and communication, spammers are suffocating the email marketing world. This often means that legitimate email marketing messages are being filtered in as spam due to the volume of unsolicited mail that people are receiving.

Initial communication is key to success

It might seem that some companies are failing in their email marketing campaigns due to this, however there is always a way to achieve good results.

Always make sure that you inform your customers that they should ensure that they add your email address so as to prevent tit from getting filtered along with all the other trash. Make sure that you do not buy any emailing lists as this will automatically mean that you are breaking the law of email marketing and sending out spam messages.

Remember that email marketing is 'prior consent’ given by a customer that you as a company can provide them with information about your business once in a while. You should not aim to abuse this privilege, as it will gives you a bad reputation in the long run.
