Don’t flop with the wrong Email lists
May 20th, 2009 by Dan
Email marketers can become frustrated when things do not go well. They complain that email marketing simply does not work. Instead, evaluate how you have been going about it. Most likely you will realise that it’s not email marketing that is at fault.
Instead you have been making a common mistake that caused your email marketing attempts to fail. Email marketing has a 3-point recipe for success; creativity, mailing lists and offering something that people want.
The all-important mailing list
In email marketing you cannot afford to use the wrong mailing lists. It’s difficult to know who and what you are dealing with on the internet. This makes it difficult to judge the quality of the list you are sending your offers to. You must be sure the names on the list are appropriate and will be open to your offers. Be wary of any bulk email companies that offer you the world on a platter.
They offer to send out your ad to thousands of people for a fee from special lists they have. Those lists they swear high and low will be perfect could land you in more trouble than you can handle. Spamming is a dirty word on the internet. Make sure that the opt-in email list that you use comes from a reliable and legitimate broker or owner or that you build it yourself. Make doubly sure that each name on that list was put on with permission of the person.
Ask about the manner that list was compiled and make the person you deal with has a pristine track record. Do your homework; make sure the list contain names in your target audience and find out as much as possible about their demographics. This is the only way to make sure the list is right for you and will make your campaign a success.
