An affiliate marketing campaign involves research, planning, implementation, recruitment of affiliates, monitoring and reporting. Affiliate marketing is a specialist field that requires a lot of time, expertise and continuous maintenance in order to be successful.
What does setting up involve?
Before the introduction of an affiliate marketing campaign it is important to evaluate your company as a whole and determine whether this method of marketing will be beneficial to your company. If you establish that you will benefit from affiliate marketing you will have to do research regarding various programs available and start building a network.
It is important to have a clear strategy linked to goals and objectives set on a timeframe. This strategy will form the core of your campaign and help you to monitor the performance of the campaign. The initial start up will take months if you do not have an existing network of affiliates and can take even longer if you have no knowledge of affiliate marketing.
Once the setting up phase has been completed, it is necessary to continuously build on the relationships with network agents and affiliates. Monitoring information like new clients, increased sales and traffic to your website will be necessary throughout the campaign and report should be drawn up to illustrate the success or shortcomings of the campaign. It is recommended to have a dedicated staff member will knowledge in this field to dedicate their time to such a campaign, or a good Affiliate Marketing Company should also be considered as a cost effective option.
