Hard Working Affiliates Need Fair Compensation

April 28th, 2009 by

Why do people become affiliates in the first place?  Internet marketing is beneficial to anyone wanting to raise their online business profile and make more money.  When it comes to affiliate marketing, how much money your product makes online depends on how dedicated an affiliates are to your program, so it makes sense that you compensate your affiliates in order to keep them around and prevent them from going elsewhere if they feel they are not being compensated fairly.

The relationship

Affiliate marketing is a business transaction, you have something to sell or market and you need someone, an affiliate, who is willing to sell or promote it for you, so the type of relationship you build is vital to the success or failure of your product, or even your business.

Just as you would compensate a hardworking employee within your company, so too do you need to compensate your affiliate.  The costs incurred in setting up an online business is fractional compared to what they would be if you had to set up an office, hire staff and pay to advertise across all medias.  This means savings to you, and as your online affiliate is usually paid on a commission basis only, this means more savings to you as well as lower risks.   However, some merchants prefer to pay their affiliates a fixed fee.

Your affiliates posts your advert on their website.  They spend time tracking and tweaking your advert – it is their responsibility to build links and maintain these links.  They are also responsible for tracking visitors to your advert.  In short they work hard for their money, and you need to keep them happy, and the only way you will do this is if you offer them fair comission when you make a sale.
