Affiliate Marketing and what it entails
Affiliate marketing has become a popular way to trade on the Internet. One of the first companies to run affiliate programs was Amazon. They allowed affiliates to place a button or banner on their website and paid a commission to the affiliate for each customer that clicked through to the Amazon website and made a purchase.
Since then there have been subsequent programs mostly modelled on the success of Amazon. As a merchant you have a product or service that you wish to generate income from. A profitable way to generate revenue is to create an affiliate program. This is enabled by recruiting affiliate marketers who will place banners or other promotional material that you have created onto their own website. If the website has a successful marketing strategy in place and receives a high volume of targeted visitors, the sales of your product will be vast generating more revenue for you. As compensation you pay a commission to the affiliate marketer.
There is a little more to affiliate marketing than that of course. You as a merchant will be responsible for creating banners and promotional materials whilst keeping abreast of the latest trends in Internet marketing.
A lot of merchants are outsourcing the management of their affiliate programs to companies such as Click Consult, making the most of their many years of experience in affiliate marketing. Being able to reply on an expert company can relieve the pressure of the everyday business that is time consuming, although critical to your success in affiliate marketing.
