No one can really get away from stories of Lewis Hamilton being brilliant one weekend and rubbish the next (Newspapers are so fickle). He's in the public eye, and as a result is a perfect Affiliate Market tool. Because of Lewis we know that Mercedes have the best cars, there is no better mobile to have other than one from Vodafone, and our money is safe in the hands of Santander.
His impact on Formula one and advertising revenue is huge. ITV have doubled the price of their sponsorship charge after just one year of the “Hamilton Effect”. Since his introduction he has attracted forty per cent more viewers and income from advertising has gone through the roof. The infamous Hilton Hotel group expect their profits to double to five million dollars this year. Companies affiliated to McClaren are reaping the rewards thanks to the talents and advertising pull of one man.
However it's not just Lewis alone that makes the Grand Prix such an Affiliate Marketing extravaganza! The first ever night-time Grand Prix attracted roughly a billion viewers across the globe. Can you imagine one hundred million people seeing your brand?! You can picture all the cogs whirring as viewers see themselves driving a new BMW or sitting in front of the latest High Definition Panasonic Wide screen Television. And it's all down to the simple format of Affiliate Marketing.
