Affiliate marketing is a quite simple system really, if you know how it works. All you have to do is sign up to one of the many affiliate programs out there, and then promote the products listed in that affiliate program.

You will get a special link (URL) where you can track what is happening and if someone clicks on the link and purchases one of the products you are promoting. If someone does purchase something such as a car for example.

Then you will receive a commission from that sale. The special link you are given holds your user identification. This is so the company who gave you the link can keep track of all the sales you have gotten for their website. So if you learn a few good affiliate marketing strategies, you could get quite rich doing this sort of thing..

Here is an example to make things a bit clearer if you have not quite understood it yet. Let’s say Mary is interested in buying a new bicycle and decides to look for one online. She then clicks on a link and finds the particular bike she is looking for and buys it.

This happens to be a website with which you are an affiliate, and the bike she bought is one of the products you have been promoting. As a result you will receive a commission from the company (with which you are affiliated). Simple enough?
