Optimising For All Search Engines
Filed under: About Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) by Dan Taylor @ 9:03 am
The ultimate SEO aim is to get the number one position with all the search engines but you may ask yourself is that possible?
If that is your goal then you need to be aware that there are some major differences between the major search engines.
The main three search engines are Yahoo!, Google and Bing. Google is the search engine that most people get their site fully optimised for whereas others might choose to optimise for Bing and Yahoo! purely due to the high competition on Google.
Google is still by far the market leader out of all the search engines and due to the continued developments that Google offers, it is likely to remain so for a significant time to come. Google invests a considerable amount in their search facility and it has secured its place as the leader in this area. They also have developed a very sophisticated algorithm. This means if you optimise fully for Google, and you do it well, then your site will be well optimised for both Bing and Yahoo!, which have much simpler algorithms.
Yahoo! differs little from Google besides the simpler algorithm but Bing has taken a new approach to live search and is making some ground on Google.
The main advice at the moment is to make sure you get your optimisation right for Google first and foremost. Following this you’ll only need a few tweaks to get things up to scratch for the other search engines.
At Click Consult we can help you get to grips with the search engines and ensure that your search engine optimisation is good enough for all the major players.
