Making Long Tail Searches Work For You
Filed under: About Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) by James @ 9:02 am
An effective way to improve your search engine optimisation is to set up your website to cater for long tail searches. In a previous article we have discussed how using blogs and forums can help you to increase traffic for this type of search.
Use a forum if you already experience a large amount of traffic. Getting a forum underway can be a challenge at the best of times but with larger volumes of visitors you’ll stand a better chance. If numbers are smaller then use blogs. You will have to write the content yourself, but this makes it easier to control, and with quality research you’ll find topics that relate to your visitors and attract long tail searches.
When you’ve adapted your search engine optimisation for long tail searches keep track on your rankings. You may find that some pages might be slow to take off. Monitor this and identify why competitor pages are ranked higher. It could be due to links, so focus on building more on inner pages. However, you won’t need too many to increase your rankings with long tail searches.
The big question is whether long tail searches actually give positive results. The quick answer is yes! You only need to look at how well Yahoo! Answers has done to see the proof. Yahoo! Answers is all over the web now offering users a great way to ask questions and creating a mass of traffic.
