The density and positioning of keywords on a website really makes a difference when SEO is applied. It is important that you place keywords strategically so that it can be detected by search engine spiders. You want your website to be picked up by internet users so it is vital that you use the enough keywords that are relevant.
Definition of keyword stuffing
Throughout your entire application of search engine optimisation, you will hear the phrase ‘keyword stuffing’. Keyword stuffing is a form of over-optimising your website. You use too many keywords or phrases and even irrelevant ones.
When you make use of keyword stuffing, search engines can immediately detect that a trick has been employed to encourage the flow of traffic. There is a high price to pay for keyword stuffing. Often, websites get penalised or banned when they try to use keyword stuffing.
Keyword stuffing on a website
There are many places on a website where the dodgy technique of keyword stuffing can be used. Firstly, the entire content of the website is probably the biggest area that could have keyword stuffing. The content includes the webpage’s as well as any articles placed on the site.
The descriptive tag is another area where keyword stuffing is possible. The description tag is the piece of text that shows up on the SERP of search engines. This describes your site. Your descriptive tag ideally has to be well written, containing enough, but not too many, keywords.
