SEO keyword research identifies the words and phrases that surfers use when looking for information or products that you provide. By conducting thorough keyword research and then implementing the keywords that you discover into the SEO content of your site and in your link building campaign you can enjoy a steady stream of traffic through the search engine results. The visitors that emerge on your site are highly targeted and very responsive to the message you are trying to convey presuming that your content is also optimised to convert.
While some keywords can prove highly competitive making them difficult to rank well for, niche and long tail keywords face less competition and can generate even more highly targeted visitors. Competitive keywords that include just one or even two words in the string are so generic that you aren’t likely to enjoy the best conversion rates either making the identification of less competitive but still reasonably well searched keywords a more beneficial approach to keyword research.
Many tools and applications exist to help with SEO keyword research. Even the search engines offer some form of tool to assist in the identification of the most potentially profitable of keywords. Using these free tools should provide you with enough information to generate a strong SEO keyword list to base an entire SEO campaign around. Conducting keyword research on a regular basis can help to identify new keywords and, therefore, improve your SEO results through the addition of these keywords to your website in the shape of new content pages.
