About Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
Censorship And SEO
It is an unfortunate predicament that internet users find themselves in when internet search providers control the gateway to information. We trust ISPs to uphold the principles of freedom of information and, alongside that, provide unfettered access to every opinion on whatever subject. However, in order to expand business into countries without such freedoms, ISPs are finding they either have to compromise and censor their search results to suit the political regime, or run the risk of losing their operating licences. There doesn't seem to be any way around this in the long term, apart from democratisation, and ISPs are not in the business of regime change, unless of course it's by exposure of users to other cultures via the internet. It's not just users from the censored country that are penalised - it's businesses and educators across the globe. Search engine optimisation, under normal circumstances, enhances your exposure to potential customers - but when ISPs allow themselves to be bullied into censoring results, fairness goes out of the window, and so does a percentage of your trade. What is the alternative - is some presence, even censored, a good thing in order to open up communication or should ISPs withdraw altogether? While the good and the great are sorting this out, you should look seriously at your SEO with a view to ensuring nothing in your site content unwittingly offends the censors and blocks your site to customers in those countries. At Click Consult, we provide expert internet marketing advice and SEO analysis to ensure your site achieves maximum results.

So What Is Google PageRank?
The name actually comes from the original inventor, Larry Page of Stanford University, and not simply from web pages. PageRank predates Google, which was founded by Page and his Stanford colleague, Sergey Brin. It's a mathematical formula applied to internet websites and is referred to as the Google algorithm, an ever-evolving set of logarithmic analyses of the hyperlinks on web pages. Interestingly, the PageRank algorithm is patented to Stanford University and licensed to Google exclusively - which cost Google an enormous 1.8 million shares, realised to the value of $336 million back in 2005. But that pales into insignificance when compared with the profits it has made for its two creators, both of whom rank in the top 25 world's wealthiest individuals. The way PageRank calculates each web page's value is by assigning it a number from 0-10, with 0 being allocated to pages with no inward links, or to those which are being penalised for adopting shady methods of search engine optimisation. Pages that have gained inward links, known as votes, will be judged on the amount and quality of these links. A high amount of votes doesn't necessarily convert to a high PageRank number - other factors play their part too. The quality of links is determined by their relevance to the site's content, but is also determined by the PageRank of the site referencing it. There are 150 million websites competing for the top rankings on Google's search engine results pages. At Click Consult, we understand how to work with Google's PageRank and other search engine ranking methods, to get the best SEO results for your website.
