PPC Or SEO

In terms of online marketing, PPC or Pay Per Click advertising and SEO or Search Engine Optimisation are considered to the two most beneficial methods of generating targeted traffic for a website. SEO is dubbed as being the most inexpensive and long term source of traffic while PPC can instantly generate a lot of traffic to a website.

Many new marketers and Webmasters question which of the two methods of marketing is the most beneficial but the question is largely moot. The most effective marketing mix is one that includes a diverse range of marketing techniques and different traffic sources so including both SEO and PPC is likely to be the best option in the majority of cases. Well managed, both search engine optimisation and PPC advertising can generate a large level of traffic over an extended period of time.

By diversifying a marketing portfolio you stand to reap the rewards of both marketing models while covering yourself against many possible pitfalls. Should your PPC or SEO traffic dry up for any reason, the other is present to make up the slack and continue to provide your pages with traffic.

Both forms of marketing should be applied from the beginning. SEO is more of a long term solution and by starting as soon as possible you can optimise on page content and then start building links for the best results. In the meantime, PPC advertising can be used to generate traffic that can be very closely benchmarked, monitored, and improved upon.
