A lot of press releases don't work because their creators stick to the old format. The old method of distributing news via a 'title, body, contact details' type of text document just doesn't work on the net. People aren't going to be ensnared by such dry content when they have access to exciting forms just about everywhere else.

, consider what your target audience will be interested in. If you're going for a younger audience, video may appeal. A business audience may want something quick and easy. Be sure to take download times into consideration.
