Every press release distribution or publishing service has a very specific set of formatting guidelines that you should follow when submitting. Failing to follow these guidelines will usually result in your press release being returned unsuccessful. While formats can differ slightly they almost always follow similar themes so before starting out on the writing process, check at a couple of distribution services that you intend to use to get a feel of what they want.

The content aspect of a press release will consist of a short and catchy header, a more elaborate but still appealing sub header, the body of the release where the details are found, and the detail section at the end that gives readers the means to find out more information regarding the topic and the companies found in the release.

Read press releases on other sites to get a feel of what might be considered newsworthy items and also to get a reasonable idea of how the release should look and read. By doing this you greatly improve your chances of having press releases accepted and may pick up a few tips on how to write the most effective press releases.

Press releases can be used to develop buzz about a new product or service, and they can help promote brand awareness when done properly. Part of this procedure involves the appropriate formatting of a release to ensure that it is accepted by the distribution service or services that you use. There's no greater resource than these websites when looking for that information.
