The Media’s Online Presence

The media really is everywhere and, fortunately for those of us that run an online business, this also includes the Internet. Daily newspapers, TV channels and many other media companies now tend to have extensive online offerings that include their own web based publications. The BBC website, as an example, is one of the largest and most widely used websites in the world. They are regularly quoted by other websites, and if you take the time to read any of their pieces whether they're sports based or business related they include quotes of their own.

The quotes that are used, especially in the business sections of a website, are commonly taken from press releases and it's reasonable to assume that media websites use the Internet to gather a lot of the press releases they use. It is, after all, the channel they use to distribute them. The BBC isn't the only site to use press releases in this way, with major news sites in every genre and of every classification using them and collecting them in a similar manner.

Press releases need exposure to give you exposure. High quality content written on newsworthy topics and including a good, reliable, and insightful quote can generate quite a buzz for any online or offline business. It may take a lot of work and a decent amount of chance but if your press release is picked up and used to help form an article for a media website then you can generate even more exposure for your business.
