An effective online press release does not just consist of a bunch of words slapped together on a page to tell some feeble story that might just get you noticed. Oh no, an online press release has to be so much more in order to be effective. You need to write something entertaining or interesting that will grab attention. Ordinary and everyday things do not grab attention.

The next point you need to remember is to write it in an entertaining and captivating way. You can make news out of the most boring subject by writing in such a way as to grab the attention of passers by. Once you have those two factors down pat you need to bring it all together nicely with the press release format.

Formatting your ideas

Internet users do not want to read sagas so keep your online press release short and sweet. Say what it is you need to say without too many frills and spills. If your internet audience wanted longer publications to read they would have bought a book, magazine or newspaper. The accepted length for an online press release is roughly 400 words that occupy no more than one, single page.

Basically you need to offer your readers condensed information without any longwinded sentences. When writing your press release to promote a service or product, start your readers off with something newsworthy.

Make the introduction about the relevance of that product or service to them and their lives. Then follow that news titbit up with more detail about what you are offering. Somewhere among the detail add in at least two links to your website and finish off with a little something about the company or website.
