Email marketing allows you to keep in regular contact with your website visitors and potential leads. However you acquire your permission based list of names and email addresses, keeping in regular contact with the recipients is important in order to ensure that your database of leads is always fresh. Good email marketing practice is to rationalise your database regularly in order to remove inactive list members, while using autoresponders is a viable and effective technique of regularly delivering your marketing message.

Autoresponders can be set so that one or many messages can be sent at specific time intervals after a person fills in your lead capture form. The entire process can be automated so that, if you wish, the email address can first be verified with an opt in subscription email and then a series of, for example, five or ten email marketing messages can be delivered on a weekly, fortnightly, or monthly basis with the first being delivered on sign up.

Email marketing is a highly effective method of turning visitors into customers and done well it can attract very high conversion and take up rates. Doing email marketing well requires the proper sending of emails on a regular, though not too regular, basis. Autoresponders are a software based mechanism to help ensure that you stick to this principle of regular contact and they can improve email marketing campaigns greatly with a series of emails. Do remember to offer a method for readers to remove themselves from your list in every email marketing message though.
