Many affiliate marketers use affiliate networks to build their business and whilst this can be much easier than running your own internet marketing affiliate network directly, it also has many disadvantages. One of the main disadvantages to using an affiliate network is the cost as you pay for their services. As the network provides the affiliates as well as liaise on your behalf you will pay quite high amounts for this service.

An affiliate network also has the distinct disadvantage of having no contact between you. The network will track the sales made on your behalf and you will pay the correct amount of commission due. There is no contact between yourself and the affiliate which prevents any bond between you. Many merchants believe that contact is necessary to build up a rapport and as a method of keeping affiliates up to date with product changes and new promotional tools.

A direct affiliate marketing approach will mean that you are choosing your own affiliates and will have to manage the affiliate network yourself but this has many advantages even though it is time consuming. By sourcing your own affiliates you will have greater control over the methods used for promoting your merchandise as well as ensuring that all methods used are ethical. You will also build trust with the affiliate which will encourage further working on other projects.

A company such as ours here at Click Consult can build an affiliate marketing network for you as well as manage your affiliates, ensuring that trust is built between you ensuring a compatible working relationship.
